Pets Direct, Poole was established in 1995 by Beth and Peter Burton, offering free home delivery of Pet Food and Accessories.

Within a few months we had outgrown our home based operation in Broadstone and moved to an industrial unit in Sturminster Marshall. We continued to concentrate on home delivery but also took a stall to various shows and markets. (See our shows page for those we still attend). In 1999 we took a lease on a shop on the Parade in the middle of Waterloo Housing Estate just south of Broadstone, where we built up a regular local clientele alongside the delivery service. When our six year lease expired in 2005 we moved round the corner to a larger store at 5 The Parade.

Home Delivery is still a significant part of the business. We cover a wide area – see the delivery page for details. We are very experienced at finding those more elusive products, and if they are not in stock we have access to over 18,000 products that can be obtained in a few days. We both have many years involvement with animals. We also have access to various specialists. We never claim to know all the answers, if we know we will tell you, but if not we will either find out for you or direct you to someone who can help.

We celebrated our Silver Wedding in 2006 and have three grown-up (nearly) daughters.
In accordance with our Christian faith, the shop is not open on Sundays or on Good Friday or Christmas Day.
